Groove Juice Swing is excited to be bringing in Sylwia Bielec
from Montreal, QC to teach an afternoon of teacher training
workshops in Rochester. Come early on Friday, May 11 to enjoy a
night of dancing and fun at Gordon Webster's CD Release
Party!
The deadline for applications has passed and we have
notified the selected participants. If you would like to be added
to the waitlist for this event, please fill out the application
below. You will be notified if a spot opens up.
Some of what we are looking for in participants:
- Dedication to a local scene or college club
and providing quality instruction to your swing community.
- Existing teaching experience (basically, if
you've never taught a lindy hop class before, this workshop will
not be beneficial to you).
- Actively teaching lindy hop classes.
- A range of teaching experience - we want all
levels of instructors to learn from each other.
Possible workshop topics include:
- Planning a class (criteria for a successful class, what makes a
class great?)
- Managing the co-teaching relationship (how to balance different
experience levels, the role of the follower in teaching)
- Dealing with challenging situations (ex. 8 follows and 2 leads
show up to class, you and your teaching partner disagree,
etc.).
Note that final topics will be decided based upon needs of the
final participants and may develop throughout the
workshop.
