Groove Juice Swing: Swing Dancing in Rochester, NY

Joanna Thibault

Joanna Thibault
Joanna Kassoulides Thibault discovered the world of Lindy Hop in 2001 in her home town of Toronto Canada.  Her passion for the dance allowed her to quickly become an influential part of the dance community.

She founded the Sugar Shakers Dance School and Performance/Entertainment group where she taught classes in Lindy Hop, Balboa/BalSwing, Solo Charleston and created many choreographies in both Solo and Partnered dance.

Joanna has been in movies, TV specials, stage performances/shows and has won and placed in competitions for Balboa/BalSwing and Lindy Hop.

In addition to her dancing Joanna is an avid music lover and is passionate about DJing for dancers. She has also trained actors for choreographies in motion pictures, and designs and makes costumes and clothing. Joanna broke the Guinness World Record for Longest Dance Party at Cleveland's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, where she danced with a group for 52 hours and 3 minutes. It was a hard-won experience that may have included some sleep-deprived hallucinations, but was well worth it.

Joanna is extremely excited to share her love of Swing Era dances with Rochester!
