Rebecca Berman
When Rebecca first moved to Rochester,
she dined at a popular local barbecue joint, listened to some
fantastic live jazz and blues, and watched in awe as the people at
the next table hit the dance floor and danced like nothing she'd
seen before. She knew she needed to learn that dance. It wasn't
until college that she took her first partnered dance class and has
been dancing Lindy Hop ever since.Rebecca loves a
great dance with laughs and playful movement, momentum that can't
be resisted, and just fooling around on the dance floor because the
music said to. She hopes her enthusiasm will spread to students so
they can enjoy this friendly, dynamic
dance. Rebecca is a founding member of
University of Rochester's Swing Club and has taught weekly lessons
to the student members since 2007. She is currently a graduate
student at the Institute of Optics at the University of Rochester
and regularly performs violin with UR's Chamber Orchestra and her
string quartet, Quartessential.
