Lindy Hop

The Lindy Hop is the original partnered swing dance invented during the late 1920s in Harlem that evolved alongside jazz music in the '30s and '40s. It was a street dance that allowed for rhythmic improvisation and social dancing, and is now danced in almost every major city in the world. Swing dancing is joyful and fun!

Swing 1: Intro To Lindy Hop

Whether it's your first time partner dancing or you're adding swing to your repertoire, this class will teach you all you need to have fun on the dance floor! You'll start out with some easy and fun moves that will have you smiling right away, and then progress through some foundational skills that will prepare you for future Lindy Hop classes and the wide world of swing dancing!

Swing 2: Lindy Hop and More

During this four-week series you will apply the skills learned in Swing 1 as a basis for new footwork patterns in your dancing, such as 6 count. Then you'll progress through some foundational skills that will increase your comfort and fun on the dance floor while preparing you for future Lindy Hop classes and the wide world of swing dancing!

Swing 3: Lindy Hop Expansion

Refine your swing out and a whole range of variations on this theme that you will never get tired of! This class will take you to the next level with new rhythms and a set of new vocabulary.

Groove Juice Swing, established in 2004, is based in Rochester, NY and specializes in Lindy Hop, the original form of swing dance from the 1920s and 1930s. Groove Juice Swing offers dance classes, weekly social dances, live band dance events, performances, and dance workshops throughout the year. Staff members and instructors are passionate about all things Lindy Hop, traveling all over the world to compete against and learn from the very best Lindy Hoppers. They bring that same commitment and enthusiasm to the dance community in Rochester.
